When you started experiencing symptoms like fatigue/exhaustion, persistent weight gain, brain fog, low mood or depression - you did what we all do...booked in with your GP and they nodded when they listened to your list of symptoms; performed a blood test and no doubt gave you a prescription for Levothyroxine ππͺ
You left feeling hopeful, heard and validated because you knew that you weren't imagining it! Finally a diagnosis and hope!
Until that hope dwindled when your symptoms didn't improve & you made more appointments with the Doctor, and each time your were dismissed because your blood tests say that you're fine π€¨π€

It takes real guts to turn away from Conventional Medicine (I know coz I did too). You'll probably have worked out that this market is now saturated with supplements that claim to be the magic answer, the magic pill that will fix your thyroid, get your energy back, help you fit into those favourite jeans, and ultimately transform your current 'condition', and get you back to that version of you that you miss (and so do your nearest & dearests)
It's the same promise land unfortunately. In my experience there is no quick fix! I wish that there were.
The #1 Hypothyroid symptom that Women live with is Fatigue or Exhaustion & in my book that's where you want to start - when you can create more energy, and dare I say it....vitality - you are then in a better place to be able to start exercising, cooking great food etc.
When you feel motivated because the changes you are making are working - you're much more likely to keep putting the positive changes in place! That takes energy - right?!
Let me explain what being a Naturopath means. Itβs not just about diet, though thatβs a big piece of supporting health. A Naturopath looks at the whole person β that includes lifestyle, inner and outer environments, stress, emotions, relationships, family history, and anything else, past, present, or future, that might impact the wonderful person at the center of it all!
In our field, we often find ourselves aligned with the Functional Medicine Model, which I believe is a fantastic approach. It digs deep to find the root causes of βdis-easeβ and, in my view, is a big step forward from the standard NHS approach. But in my experience, Functional Medicine sometimes relies heavily on costly tests and a kitchen cupboard full of supplements, which can be a big investment.
Iβm glad to say that I no longer depend on those expensive tests or stacks of supplements. Iβm convinced (and Iβve seen it firsthand!) that the body can often heal itself when given the right conditions inside and out.
Fortunately, I now use a single, affordable test that gives me and my clients a solid starting point for healing. While I still have access to more in-depth tests if needed later, my current approach keeps costs down and empowers my clients to take charge of their own health. Iβm simply here as a guide along the way.
